My motivation and related experience

Why I want to study︎︎︎
During the studying, I want to delve deeper into the design and creation of interactive programs, games, and stories.I have an experience of creating my own art project in a form of video-game. I'm fascinated by the opportunity to construct a unique poetic substance, dispersed in space and time of a special virtual system. In my last works I acted intuitively and rather linearly. But now I do want to learn exactly how to think like a game designer, I want to become a poetical engineer.

My dream job︎︎︎
After graduating I would like to build a team and start my own independent studio. I’ve even already made up a name for it. Silent Ice Trigger. I would like to specialize in art games. Also, from time to time I would like to do some social transdiscipline projects and collaborate with specialists in different areas of science. The products, for example, could be a “game”, which helps with the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or gamification app for elderly people workouts.

My expectations of the study︎︎︎
I expect from the studies an environment in which the development of thought/thinking is possible. Also, I hope to find communication and collaboration with colleagues, passionate about their work. I would like to learn how to construct a message and a concept through a touch of game algorithms, mechanics and poetic aesthetic layers. During my studying, I’m going to raise in my artist's jelly brain a steel skeleton of a structural engineer.

Technical experience︎︎︎
According technical part, I’ve experience with: 1). Unreal Engine 4. I also have been learning how to program with its blueprints and now I have basic skills in it. I worked a little with Unity, but without programming, I just used its 2d platformer template (you can see the result here). 2). 3d editors: Cinema 4d, ZBrush 3). Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Indesign 4). Sound editor: Reaper; Also, I have experience with creating interactive installations, videos, drawing, sketching.

Creative interests︎︎︎
I'm interested in art, contemporary art, sound art, 3d modeling, creating digital environments, 2d, making video, games, non-games, creating stories, multimedia projects and installation, poetry.
One of the examples, illustrating it, is my artwork “ICE”. It is a media installation and a video game. I’ve created it for several years by myself only. In this work I did a lot of things by myself - 3d locations, models, an environment, videos inside the game, poetical texts, story in general, characters and an appearance in general. I forgot to say that I am also interested in drawing, when I need it in my big projects like “ICE”. So in my game you can also find special cards, which I’ve drawn.

 Personal interests︎︎︎
I do art projects and I used to take part in exhibitions in Russia. Now it's impossible, because of censorship in all life's areas in this country. All, what has been happening right now is a huge pain (...).

I love video games by D.Wreden, especially “The beginners guide”, works by D.O'Reilly. I love the game “Portal (2)”, “Antichamber”. I like Giant Sparrow studio’s games. In games I appreciate poetry and conceptuality. My favorite books are: A.Kavan “Machines in the head” (the texts in the videos of my project ICE based on this book), A.Robbe-Grillet “Dans le labyrinthe”, Simone de Beauvoir “The Second Sex”, D.Alighieri “La Divina Commedia”, G.Deleuze “Cinéma”. Movies by Andrei Tarkovsky; “Through a glass darkly”, Bergman; “Only lovers left alive”, J.Jarmusch; Empty House, Kim Ki-duk.

What else?︎︎︎
I am a regular game tester and coloborant for media artist and independent game designer Mikhail Maksimov.
